Community Alert
On May 14th, 2021, at approximately 8:30am, a woman was walking with her child westbound on the 500 block of Hawthorne, when an offender attacked the woman with a pipe and stole her purse. The offender then fled the scene. Medical attention and police were called to the scene. The woman is being treated for serious injuries of Illinois Masonic. The case is being treated as an Aggravated Robbery.
Offender’s description:
Male, Black. Approx. 6′ to 6’2″, wearing a black hoodie with grey sweatpants. The offender’s hairstyle is long dreads.

What you can do:
Always be aware of your surroundings.
Pay special attention to suspicious people loitering in the area and report them to the police.
If confronted by an offender, remain calm.
Remember any unique descriptive characteristics of offenders (Scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.).
Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to police.
Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender.
